Pikes Peak Children's Museum

History

The PPCM’s 501c3 status was formed in 2005 by a group of leaders that saw the need for a children’s museum in Colorado Springs. At the time, children’s museums were popping up across the world. Every major city in America now has one. Through the years, the BOD worked with the city & donors to design a large-scale museum to be built downtown.

However, due to a variety of reasons the project never came to fruition. In 2020, the organization was hanging on by a thread. That thread was two volunteers who took a leap of faith & opened a space at 2565 Airport Rd. Business at this space was good and there was a lot of community interest. However, we battled a landlord that had very little interest in helping to make our space safer for families and continually increased our rent to an unobtainable amount. During the summer of 2023 the BOD decided it was time to close that location & focus on what we KNOW this community wants & needs – a larger & better museum space to suit the needs of our community! In the meantime, you can find the PPCM around town with our Stories & STEAM Program.
