MUSEUM BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The PPCM is currently accepting applications for additional board members. If you are interested in applying, please do so HERE! Specifically, we are seeking the following candidates:
- IT experience/expertise
- Grant-writing skills/expertise
- Fundraising experience/expertise
- Connectors – Individuals that know a lot of people in Colorado Springs & are able to make much needed connections.
- Educators/Childhood Experience – Individuals that have been in the education field or works closely with children in some capacity.
- Secretary – Someone who can take on responsibility of the secretary and come with experience with one of the above expertise.
Keanah Smith, President. Keanah is a recent resident of Colorado Springs, having moved here in February 2016. She is the Senior Associate Commissioner for Championships for the Mountain West Conference, where she is the primary administrator for the league’s overall championships operation. In this role, she oversees the event management of the Conference’s Olympic Sport Championships. Prior to this, she served as the associate athletic director and chief operations officer at Miami University. Before to her time at Miami, Keanah served as an assistant director of championships at the NCAA from 2001-07, and as an assistant director of championships at Conference USA (1999-2001). She also spent time at Appalachian State (1997-99) as an assistant coordinator of academic services, following an internship at Conference USA (1996-97). A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Smith earned both her bachelor’s degree in health and sport studies in 1994 and her master’s in sport studies in 1995 from Miami. Following her graduate studies, Smith worked as an administrator for the Reggie Miller Basketball Camp and a coordinator of training for Indiana Special Olympics. In her spare time, Keanah loves movies, cooking and spends most of her time with her dogs, Cooper (St. Bernard/Lab) and Kylie (Golden Retriever). Term ends February, 2020. Eligible for a second consecutive term.
Jena Reichelt, Vice President. Jena Reichelt, MD is a family medicine physician with Kaiser Permanente as well as a faculty member with the University of Colorado School of Medicine branch campus here in Colorado Springs. She recently moved back to southern Colorado and immediately noticed the need for a children’s museum in the Pikes Peak region when trying to find activities for her two young children. She received her bachelors degree from UCCS and her medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Prior to moving to Colorado Springs Jena worked with the University of Colorado Department of Family Medicine. She is committed to creating a safe and educational place for all children of the Pikes Peak region. Jena, her husband, Kirk, and their two children enjoy hiking, cooking and exploring our community. Term ends February, 2019. Eligible for a second consecutive term.
Marie Perrone, Treasurer.
Camille Murdock, Intern/Interim Secretary. Camille joined us as a full time intern in August of 2017.
Nohealani March, Member-At-Large. Nohea was introduced to the PPCM a few years ago and jumped on board with the Events Committee to help with the annual Noon Year’s Eve event. As someone who does marketing and events, she knew helping with this event would be a way that she could really make a difference for the museum. Nohea and her family (she’s a mom to three young boys) love to visit all of the museums around our city and state. She is happy to be on the board and excited to see the PPCM come to life!
